Save the Inside Out Playground!

The Inside Out Playground may be closing forever at the end of November. For those of you who aren't familiar with the IOP, it is a safe community indoor activity center for children, located Waterville, ME. It has three rooms of climbing structures, tricycles, games, toys, crafts, books, a puppet theater and more. They offer Music and Movement classes and host PEDs preschool three mornings a week. On the weekends, they host birthday parties.
During our long Maine winters, having a place to run, play and socialize is a Godsend. It pains my heart to think that the IOP will close after 15 years. If anyone would like to help, the IOP needs to raise $6000 in order to remain open.
Mostly, they need to be rediscovered. After their move about three years ago, they're visibility has declined. They did not have the funds to advertise and many people believed they had closed. The IOP lives, for now. They are located at 5 Appleton St. in Waterville, ME 04901. The playground is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. To come and play all day is $5 for children over one and $1 for adults, children under one are free. If you bring a group of 6 children or more, it's $3 per child.
There is a four week Music and Movement class startingTuesday Oct. 27, 10:30 a.m. for tiny tots and Thursday Oct. 29, 12:15. The cost is $25 for non-members and $15 for members.
My hope is that other parents might read this and have the information they need to come explore the Inside Out Playground, before it isn't there anymore. If we get enough people, maybe we can save it.

Weight Watchers of Maine will help! We have a huge network all over the state including the Augusta/Waterville area and we will spread the word!

Thank you so much!
We need more places to go and play with our kids in the winter, not less. Places other than McDonalds and more affordable than the Discovery museums. If the Inside Out Playground stays open, they will be able to enact a grant to help stressed out families (those that have lost jobs, moved, have children with delays, etc.) have free memberships. If they close it will be a tremendous loss. Let's not let them vanish quietly.

I love the IOP! I didn't know it was in trouble. Will definitely help spread the word.

Wow, I didn't know about the playground, but now that I do, I'll post it on http://cutepotato.com/ (Your Guide to Kid-Friendly Maine) and spread the word. I know we would certainly make the drive to Waterville for a visit to the playground. Sounds like fun! Do you have to be a member? If so, what's the cost?
PS: The Augusta Children's Museum is very affordable.... their grand re-opening is slated for early November.

THANKS!!!
You don't need to be a member. It's $5 per child (under one is free) and $1 for an adult, for the the entire day, even if you leave and return later. There are also Player Passes that give you 5 visits for $20 (the cost of 4 visits and no adult fee, so you save $10). The year long family memberships are $100 for as many visits and kids as you have, but until we know the IOP will be around for another year, I'd stick with the player pass.
We love the Augusta Children's Museum, is it closed again for updates? The IOP is sort of a cross between it and a regular playground.

The CDM is moving to Shaw's Plaza, next to Harvest Time Natural Foods. In the mean time, thanks for all of the information. I'll post it on Cute Potato, and also mention it on my local family network. Hope this helps!
