LUV2LOSE Jackie Conn is loser and proud of it! She is dedicated to maintaining her weight loss and helping others to discover their personal paths to sustained weight management. She shares her insight, challenges and solutions with others through her writing, bi-weekly television appearances on WABI 5 in Bangor, and in Weight Watchers meetings. Jackie lives in Buxton with her husband and mini schnauzer and is the mother of four grown daughters, all in their 20s. She firmly believes that Weight Watchers played an integral part in not just helping her get her own weight in control, but perhaps even more importantly, role model healthy weight behaviors and attitudes for her girls.

Here I go with a topic I've blogged about before.

It's the futility and absolute insanity of hating your body because it doesn't look like the celebrities bodies you see in magazines, TV or movies. What You See Isn't Real!

The truth and good news is their bodies don't look like that either!

The bad news is we waste our lives and squander our happiness trying to achieve a standard that's not human, but rather, created on a computer!

I would like to start a new magazine. It would be called Real. There would be no retouched images - every image would be, well, yes, real! The models would be real. Pictures of the food created by the recipes would be real. If there was a story about a bathroom renovation or an article about organizing closets, it would be accompanied by real photographs of real people's homes who actually did the job.

I don't think my magazine would sell well. That's sort of a sad commentary that we would rather see unreal images and knock ourselves out to attain that standard, than to appreciate what's real.

I'd be right there with ya Jackie. My "real" work environment - a cat sitting on top of my laptop, in my sweats (sometimes).

Yes count me in too. Every advertisement would subliminally say: YOU ARE PERFECT AS YOU ARE. YOU NEED NOT BUY A THING. Looks like we are heading for the big bucks on this idea. HA!!!

We need those kinds of ads for sure and you got me thinking. All the paid advertising would be real. Companies need to find real people to endorse their products without compensation. Advertisers would have to have documentation to prove that their ads were unsolicited, unpaid, third party endorsements! Like me! I would be happy to endorse Town & Country mini vans. I got 220,000 miles in 8 years on my first one. I sold it when it was still running and looking great but with the kind of miles I put on a car I thought it was time to get a new one and put that one into the hands of somebody who would demand less of it. Now I'm thinking our magazine could be a money maker simply because people could trust Real to tell the truth!

As crazy as it sounds, you might actually do well with your idea. With so many people struggling, people might find it uplifting to know they are just like everyone else.

It would be great to promote the fact people are beautiful in all shapes, sizes, colors, plain, simple, fancy......when people do and feel what they belive in it gives them a radiance and says "I am beautiful" no matter what the label says......
