April Mom Makeover
By Wendy Almeida April 2008

Makeover of the Month: Easy-going and fresh was the theme for this month's makeover.

Stylist and co-owner of Bei Capelli, Nancy Cartonio, was charged with giving Meg Kusturin, the busy mom of nine children from Gorham, a new look.

NANCY:
"Being the mother of nine, we knew we needed to go low-maintenance with a realistic look that's going to work and fit in with her life.

First off I noticed she had beautifully colored hair. We enhanced her natural color by adding what she would probably get from the sun anyway, like the color she likely had in 5th grade. We did that by brightening up the highlights a bit and adding a light honey auburn glaze for a natural shine and conditioned look.

We took her natural hair texture, the thickness and waviness of it, into account so the cut that we gave her naturally loosened and lifted so it was really easy-going and fresh. This also took into account Meg's personality which is really cute and easy-going and fresh. We cut about four inches for the 'wash and go' feel and also did some texturizing to release weight and increase movement. We're blow drying today but it would look great with a little product and air drying when she just doesn't have time.

The overall theme for Meg was working with what she had that's easy-going and low-maintence."

MEG:
"I thought about being more wild but I wanted to be able to replicate this style when I walked out the door and feel comfortable with it. What I really liked about this makeover was that Nancy listened to my suggestions and where I was coming from in life and didn't try to sell me on something that I couldn't maintain and take care of and feel comfortable with and be me with. I really love what she did."
