Music teacher and South Portland mom Karina Babcock was ready to take the weight off her shoulders – literally. Her plans to donate 15 inches of hair to the Locks of Love program had been foiled several times because of scheduling snafus and snowstorms. The mother of two girls, she was thrilled to get the call that she was the recipient of this month’s Raising Maine and Bei Capelli complimentary makeover. "It’s been 2 1/2 years since I’ve had a professional haircut," she said. "My hair is down to my lower back, and I no longer can turn over in my sleep and must keep my hair in a 'Little House on the Prairie’-style bun for sleeping."
